Summer Mocktails - recipes and garnishes
Summer has finally arrived and it's time to party! Here are three of our favourite recipes for refreshing mocktails. They might look impressive (and taste even better!) but don't worry - they don't have extremely long and complicated lists of ingredients and don't require much effort to prepare. It's time to relax, take it easy and enjoy these simple non-alcoholic treats.
Fancy Water
Ingredients
Ice
Sparkling water
Tonic water
Summer Thyme Co. G&T botanicals mix
Summer Thyme Co. dehydrated blood orange
Method
Prepare the fanciest glasses you have. Fill them with ice. Add sparkling water and tonic - we usually go for 2/3 of sparkling water & 1/3 tonic. Garnish with a teaspoon of Summer Thyme Co G&T botanicals mix and a wheel of our dehydrated blood orange. The botanicals mix contains Tasmanian pepperberries and rosella flowers which will add a little bit of pink colour to your drink.
Lemon Slushie
Ingredients (makes 2)
100ml coconut water
100ml of citrus soda (e.g. Fever-tree lime & yuzu soda)
Lemon sorbet - about 5 big ice cream scoops (150ml)
Lemon thyme, few fresh sprigs
2tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
ice
Summer Thyme Co. dehydrated lemons to garnish
Method
Place all ingredients (leave some lemon thyme for garnish) in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into martini glasses and garnish with Summer Thyme Co. dehydrated lemon wheels and lemon thyme.
Strawberry Mojito
Ingredients
Fresh lime, cut into thick slices
Fresh mint
Ice
Summer Thyme Co. dehydrated strawberries
Unflavoured tonic water or lemonade if you prefer your drinks on a sweeter side
Summer Thyme Co. dehydrated limes, to garnish
Method
Build the drink in a tumbler glass. Place a couple of pieces of fresh lime and mint in the glass and muddle with a spoon. Add ice and a handful of Summer Thyme Co. dehydrated strawberries. Top with tonic or lemonade. Garnish with Summer Thyme Co dehydrated limes.
As time passes the strawberries will release a little bit of pink colour and a beautiful aroma so let them soak for a few minutes. Feel free to refill the same glass a couple of times, there's a lot of flavour to go around.
